Okay I thought I had the flu but I did a little research and realized that I really had the cold. The cold and flu have very similar symptoms.
The Influenza or flu is much more serious than the cold. Common flu symptoms are fevers, body pain, head aches, fatigue, coughing etc. This can only be prevented by vaccines. I can't really remember the last time I had the flu.
Cold on the other hand is just basic stuffy nose. Maybe a little rise in temperature and a little fatigue but nothing much. But do you know what suprised me the most? It was the fact that the cold can be prevented by proper hygiene. I mean come on what's with that. Those people just said that I don't have proper hygiene. Well for your information I happen to shower twice a day and on a normal day i shower three times a day. I brush my teeth 2-3 times a day and I change clothes every time I bathe. I just simply cannot see how my lack of proper hygiene made me get the cold if I am practicing proper hygiene.
But then I decided to do more research. I then found out that you can get the cold from just shaking someones hand. If the person has a cold they could have easily touched their nose or eyes and then shook hands with you. But I did not shake any one's hands today so it can't be that.
The other way I could have possibly gotten the cold from was by not washing my hands before I ate. Honestly I'm not sure if I did that so that could probably be the reason why I got the cold.
The last possible reason and probably the most logical one would be that it was caused by rhinoviruses. Yup these viruses are usually found in your nose and are one of the most common causes of the cold. Thanks to healthscout.com I found out that rhinoviruses can live for up to 3 hours on a doorknob or surface. So I probably touched something that an infected person could have touched 3 hours before me.
Well now that I'm stuck with the cold I need to get rid of it. All I have to do is to drink eight glasses of water a day and get some bedrest. So by tommorow I may be in good shape again.
ANCIENT REMEDIES
A lot of these ancient guys believed that letting out blood would heal you. But it does the opposite.
Another remedy was ki control practiced by monks
people also believed that colds had something to do with evil spirits.
So if you want to you can drink sufficient water and rest or you can let someone cut you and let you bleed, or you can travel to china and join the monestary to practice ki control or you can try to fight off demons. It is up to you. Although the ancient people did have medicine that is more advanced than our medicine and modern doctors also practice some of these ancient remedies.
HERE ARE SOME JOKES ABOUT FLU'S
A man walks into the pharmacy and asks the pharmacist, ”Do you have any acetylsalicylic acid?”
“Do you mean aspirin?” says the pharmacist.
“That’s it, I can never remember that word.”
A famous champion is in bed with flu. A doctor visits him:
“You’ve got a high fever, my friend,” says the doctor.
“How high?” – asks the champion.
“39.5˚C,” the doctor nods.
“Yeah? And what is the world record?”
